Bolingbrook, Ill, (July 2, 2019) – WeatherTech Racing drivers Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Toni Vilander (Kankaanpää, Finland) are ready for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix presented by Acura to run at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this weekend, July 5-7.

The Scuderia Corsa managed team is coming off of a podium finish just two days ago in the No. 63 WeatherTech Racing Ferrari at Watkins Glen. In addition, the Le Mans momentum of third is fueling MacNeil and Vilander as the IMSA season begins its second half.

The 2.4-mile, 10-turn track located 50-minutes north of Toronto is a driver favorite for its classic layout and fast corners. MacNeil and Vilander are sixth in GTD points with 92 coming into the track formerly known as Mosport. The downforce of the Ferrari 488 and the driver’s familiarity with the circuit will be the key to a successful run on Sunday.

“Really excited to go back to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, it is one of the best tracks on our calendar,” MacNeil said. “It has bit of everything, off-camber corners, elevation change, track surface variations – it throws a lot at you in one lap. It really keeps you on your toes as a driver, which I really like. It takes a good lap to get the speed out of the car. The Canadian fans are very enthusiastic about racing. It’s always nice visiting with them in the paddock. We will push hard for a good result.”

“I really like the track,” Vilander said. “A month ago, I raced there in the Blancpain series and we were able to win race one and finish P2 in the second. I think our WeatherTech Ferrari is well suited to the track. It is not a long lap, but you have to commit to get a good time. With the elevation changes and fast corners, you have to have a good handling car. I am looking forward to going back to Canada for our second race weekend in a row.”

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix presented by Acura from Canadian Tire Motorsport Park will be televised on NBC and IMSA.com starting at 1 p.m. ET, Sunday, July 7. Fans can also listen to live race coverage on IMSA Radio on IMSA.com and RadioLeMans.com.
