While any F-Type, from the base version with a four-cylinder, 296-horepower engine that starts at half the price of the model tested here, through several V6 and V8-powered versions to the SVR, all are fine road machines that combine good looks with varying levels of performance. New for 2019 are a host of updates, including new 20-inch wheels, model badging, advanced driver-assist systems, and a larger 10-inch infotainment screen.
The interior is befitting for such a car, with quilted seats. The overall exemplary fit and finish is exemplary, and a booming exhaust note lets the world know you have arrived.
Terrific performance, rock-star looks, and an attitude that begins when you push the starter button.
The F-Type isn't the easiest car to get in and out of, and the rear wing spoiler detracts from the overall styling and looks out of place.
As befitting the animal, it is named after, the Jaguar is sleek, responsive, and athletic. With its raucous exhaust note, the SVR is certainly an attention-getter, and the swoopy styling is timeless. This car is truly a gentleman's hot rod.
