Fredericton, NB – The championship battles are heating up as Speedway 660 prepares for the Coca-Cola Refreshments night of racing this Saturday at 7 p.m. There will be exciting action in all five of the speedway’s divisions.
“Everyone, especially the Hanwell Village Mart Bandolero, four cylinder and A.L. Gullison Disaster Kleenup Pro Stock drivers, are anxious to get back to the race track,” said Speedway 660’s Steve Burns. “We had two rain-outs in a row, plus the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour last weekend, so fans haven’t been able to see those three divisions race for the better part of a month.”
The tightest championship battle is in the RV World Street Stock Division. Defending champ Rick Cashol and Shannon Brake are tied for the lead with a 13 point cushion over third place Roger Slocum. Dave O’Blenis currently leads the Pro Stocks with a seven point advantage over Kevin Moore, but 3rd through 7th are only separated by nine points.
Randy Moore holds down top spot in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman Division. Brent Roy and Glyn Nott are keeping pace in second and third. Only nine points separate 5th through 9th. Cole Tanner is tops in Bando, with a six point advantage over Cole Boudreau who is just two up on defending champion Dana Hamm-Cameron. T.J. Madore is first in the four cylinder division, but Greg Cashol is in hot pursuit.
“We are seeing competitive racing in every division and the drivers realize this weekend is a great opportunity to pick up as many championship points as possible,” said Burns. “It’s important for race teams to build momentum as we race our way through July and prepare for the stretch run in August.”
The Coca-Cola Refreshments night of racing at Speedway 660 officially starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday. However, heat races in the Bando and 4 cylinder divisions kick off at 6:20.
