(Halifax, NS. May 25, 2012) Scotia Speedworld is ready to kick off their 25th anniversary season this Sunday with the Weekly Racing Series Season Opener presented by Q104.  All 6 Weekly Racing Series divisions will see action on the oval this Sunday.  In honour of our birthday celebrations Adult tickets will be just $10.00 this Sunday only, the same price as when the gates first opened 24 seasons ago.  Youth tickets (8-15) are just $2.00 and children 7 and under are admitted for free all season at Scotia Speedworld. Tickets will be available at the gate on race day. Grandstand gates open at 12:00 noon with qualifying for all 6 Weekly Racing Series divisions slated to get underway at 2:00 PM.

Four of the six champions from the 2011 season are back full time this season. Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake) looks to become the first ever two-time Hydraulics Plus Bandolero champion since the inception of the class in 2006. Jorden Smith (Lakeside) will look to follow up his record shattering margin of victory in the ACE Lumbermart Lightning division with a second straight title. Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro) is expected to run for the Strictly Hydraulics Legends title and looked strong following a second place run in the Maritime League of Legends race last week. JP Arsenault (Church Point) will make the long haul each week to the Speedworld in an attempt to defend his Jack Daniels Truck Division title, a championship which came down to the wire last season. Jeff Dillman (Middle Musquodobit) is expected to run part-time in the Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman Series while 2011 ACE Lumbermart Thunder champ Dave Matthews (Kennetcook) has moved to the Strictly Hydraulics Legends division full time in 2012.
The Weekly Racing Series will take the following weekend off as Scotia Speedworld hosts Maple Leaf Monster Jam on June 2nd and 3rd.  The Weekly Racing Series will return to its usual 7:00 PM time slot on Friday nights starting on June 8th and will run every Friday night following for the remainder of the season.  If you’re planning on attending Monster Jam be sure to hang onto your ticket stub and you can catch the Weekly Racing Series on Friday, June 8th for just $5.00!
