GRAND BEND, ON – This Province’s next super stars of auto racing are starting at a very young age. Grand Bend Speedway hosts some of the youngest racing divisions in the country. The Jr. Micro Sprint divisions at Grand Bend start as early as age 4-6, and have other divisions for children from ages 7-11, and 12-14 before allowed to compete in the adult divisions.
The cars are 6.5hp Honda powered Micro Sprints. The horsepower is reduced by restrictor plates on the two youngest divisions: Jr. C and Jr. B divisions and the older drivers in the Jr A division are able to use most of the power made available.
One of the most dominating performances of driving in 2013 season comes from the OK Tire London South Jr B division (7-11yrs). Cooper Aubertin and his yellow #38 has won eight of the nine feature races this year. Younger brother Jaxson Aubertin has been nipping at his heels, but has yet to put his #18 in victory lane as of yet. Brendan Patrick, sits 3rd in the Championship points standings, and is the divisions only other feature race winner, after scoring his win on opening night back in May.
Championship Points as of August 3, 2013* (*50% Attendance or more)
The London Drive Systems Jr B Micro Sprints will be in action this weekend with all other weekly divisions including
• London Drive Systems Jr. A Micro Sprints
• Broadway Service Junior Late Models
• Tommy’s Motors 9hp Winged Sprints
• Mike & Terri’s NoFrills Mini Trucks
Race fans are encouraged to make an entire weekend out of the action this weekend. Spend a day in the famous beach town of Grand Bend, spend the afternoon at the beach, then enjoy racing in the evening, and wrap up the night in the campground with other fans and competitors
