TORONTO, ON – As part of its Stage 1 Openings announcement today, the province of Ontario has permitted “car and motorcycle racing” to take place, albeit without spectators. On the surface, this appears to clear the way for practice, lapping sessions and competition with no fans in attendance.
For many tracks and series, ‘front gate’ (fan) revenues are a key part of their operating budgets, so it’s not clear how many facilities will be able to open without that stream of income.
If you own or manage a track or series and would like to let us know your plans, in light of this development, please drop us a note at editor@insidetracknews.com. Thank you.
