Qualifying number one in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series Top Dragster class with a 6.193, 181.52 pass is Lyle Williams of Strathroy, Ontario, followed by Burlington's Glen Vardy with a 6.200, 201.21 posting. Scott McCann of Stratford is third with a 7.017, 188.12.
On the Quick 32 Sportsman Series Top Sportsman side, Marc Gervais of Sudbury qualified number one with a 6.723, 201.97 pass in his Camaro, followed by the Studebaker of Doug Blowes of Stratford with a 6.897, 201.12, and Ingersoll's Bill Wilson who posted a 6.936, 197.97 in his Cavalier.
Presented by Wiseco Performance Products, the Pro Bike & Sled Series got underway as well at the Bend for its first race of the season. Qualifying number one with a 7.444, 175.19 posting was Toronto's John Orfanidis, with reigning PBSS champion Dan Cryderman of Thamesville next with a 7.990, 164.92 and Curtis Beck of Milton third with an 8.159, 159.85. All three are Pro Bike entries and all ride Suzukis.
The weekend of racing continues Sunday with eliminations in all classes, scheduled to begin at Grand Bend at 11:30 a.m.
The Quick 32 Sportsman Series is now in its seventh year of operation, and the PBSS is now in its fifth season. Both series race several times each season at the same event, offering a colorful and exciting package of drag racing action.
