July 8, 2013- After wet rainy weather last weekend the Brockville Ontario Speedway was blessed with warm temperatures and some great racing action. Round 2 of the Ogilvie's Auto and Fleet Triple Crown for the Modified and Sportsman was the main attraction and the fans were treated to an exciting night.

In the 50 lap event for the 358 Modifieds Bobby Herrington and Stephane Lafrance led the field of 19 cars to the green and Herrington flexed his muscle early on by taking the top spot away leaving Stephane Lafrance, Danny O'Brien, Bryan Rogers and Pat O'Brien to battle for the top 5 positions.

The bottom of the speedway was the place to be on this night as Herrington had the perfect line leading the opening 4 laps. The first yellow flew on lap 5 as Andy Lloyd slowed off the back stretch.

On the restart Danny O'Brien started to charge to the head of the class. After battling with Herrington he took the lead on lap 10 and started to open up a commanding advantage over Herrington, Lafrance, Kyle Dingwall and Lee Gill. As Danny O'Brien entered lapped traffic Kyle Dingwall was able to get the Number 2 spot away from Herrington in turn 1 just before halfway leaving Lafrance, Pat O'Brien and Gill to complete the top five.

From laps 19 through 30 the fans were treated to some great racing as Herrington, Gill and Lafrance put on a show trading third, fourth and fifth several times. On lap 35 Gill cleared everyone and was in pursuit of the top two drivers, but a caution on lap 37 would bunch the field up.

When the green returned Danny O'Brien continued his great run as Dingwall had to fend off Gill for the second position. The final yellow flew on lap 43 for Jason Riddell who spun in Turn 4 after contact with Joe Banks.

On the final restart Danny O'Brien jumped out in front and would lead the final seven laps as he scored his third win of the season as Lee Gill nipped Kyle Dingwall for 2nd at the line. Pat O'Brien and Bobby Herrington rounded out the top five.

In the Sportsman portion of the Ogilvie's Auto and Fleet Triple Crown Shane Pecore and former track champion Dylan Evoy led the field to the green in the 40 lap contest with Pecore grabbing the top spot into Turn 1. Pecore has been on a rail in 2013 at "The BOS" and was looking to keep his hot streak alive as he powered away to over a straightaway lead by lap 10 with Evoy, Steve Barber, Chris Herbison and Jon Mills rounding out the top five.

Aaron Pugh lost the handle on his car in Turn 4 on lap 14 bringing out the yellow for the first time. On the restart Pecore continued his assult on the field but the lady on the move was Jessica Power. After starting in the ninth position she quickly moved to the fourth spot just past the halfway point of the event after a great battle with two-time champion Chris Herbison.

Pecore continued to lead with Barber 2nd on lap 26 and just behind them Power continued her march to the front as she battled with Evoy for the next 10 laps until a caution flew for Dana Aikins who lost a motor in Turn 4.

With a three lap dash to the finish Pecore knew the restart was key. As the green came out Pecore was able to scoot away by three car lengths and that was all he needed to score his fifth win of the year over Barber, Evoy, Power and Herbison.

In Rookie Sportsman action Jasmine David and Josh Powers led the field to the stripe and would race side by side into Turn 1. The yellow would come out quickly for David however as she experienced problems with her race car. On the restart Chris Bakker jumped out in front and was looking to win his first ever Sportsman race. Bakker led the first 10 laps but the man on the charge was Tristan Draper.

After graduating from the karting ranks Draper was looking for his second win in the Rookie Sportsman class.

With two-to-go Bakker's handling started to go away and Draper took advantage of a small mistake by Bakker in Turn 1 to grab the lead away and go on to his second ever win over Bakker, Richard Raison, Jamie Young, and Josh Powers

The Street Stock division had one of the quickest races as Steve Kearney and Danny Mocibob started on the front row but it was Kearney leading the field into Turn 1.

Kevin Fetterly Jr. was on the charge after starting in the fourth position. The three time, and defending, track champion was in pursuit of his first win of 2013 and took the lead away from Kearney just before the halfway point. Fetterly kept up a torrid pace until lap 13 when Dominic Gauvreau spun bringing out the only yellow of the event. On the restart Alex Gagnon and Kearney tried to close in but Fetterly was too strong on this night as he scored his first win of 2013 over Gagnon, Kearney, Darrick Eaton and Brock Cullen.

The Rookie division had a wild start as just before the completion of lap one, a five car crash in Turn 4 brought out the first yellow of the race. Cody McEroy and Colin Tracey received the most damage and were done for the night. Ron Day was the leader early on in the 15 lap event.

Day was involved in a scary accident two weeks ago and was back in fine form on this night as he led the opening six laps.

Joe McNichols started  the season late but has not lost a beat as he took the top spot away from Ron Day just before halfway and would not look back as he scored his eighth career Rookie feature win and first of 2013 with Day finishing second, Kevin Scott third, Josh Kirkland and Corbin Miller rounded out the top five.

Next week Polite Sand and Gravel will be on hand with the 358 Modifieds Street Stock and Rookies plus a 20 lap enduro. The Sportsman have the night off. The green flag drops at 7pm.
