TROIS-RIVIERES, QC – On Saturday, May 15, 33 teams totalling 67 drivers, took to the virtual Watkins Glen Boot track for the second edition of the Sly Sim Racing 6-hour Enduro in aid of Dumoulin Competition’s “Race Against Cancer” (La course contre le cancer). Once again, the event was a success beyond all expectations for competitors, partners and spectators alike. The goal was to exceed the amount raised last year. Mission accomplished as a wave of generosity allowed us to collect $6,050,50, which was donated to the Quebec Cancer Foundation. Our gratitude towards each one of you is immense.
“We are very proud to see how everyone organized and took part in the event to help the Quebec Cancer Foundation, especially Sylvain Bernier. This feeling extends to the enthusiasm it created, both in terms of participation in the enduro and to the donations we collected, which is really touching. We all raised an impressive amount, a loud “Wow!” all the way ’round. People facing cancer always need support to get through this disease, and in a period like the one we are going through now, it is even more difficult for them,” according to Jean-François and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
“The event has grown well beyond our expectations. The bar was set high this year and we passed it by working together, which is incredible! I would like to highlight the contribution of Christian Buist who helped us considerably with videos and photos. Thank you to drivers Jean-Philippe Bergeron (stock car driver with Prolon Racing / Festidrag development) and his teammates (Dave Coursol, Alexandre Labrosse and Félix Gratton) who proudly represented Dumoulin Competition on the track. “I am very happy to have contributed to the cause to help the victims of cancer. This was a first for me but certainly not my last participation in support of the cause. Thanks again to all of you for your generosity,” declared Jean-Philippe Bergeron.
“We are seeing more and more sim-based racing events these days. It is a very interesting trend, and many great professional drivers take part in the events. Staging the race on the Watkins Glen Boot road course was a smart choice and so was the duration of the race, as six hours allows all the drivers on a team to thoroughly enjoy the track. Congratulations to Cube Racing (drivers Guillaume Lévesque and Philippe Bouchard) for their victory, and a big thank you to Jean-Philippe Bergeron and his teammates for representing us for the cause,” concluded the Dumoulin brothers.
