“We ran into some issues with weather during the first couple of dates on the calendar, but everyone is hoping things will run clean and green for the rest of the year,” McFadden said. “It can be tough when you’re ready to race and then Mother Nature intervenes and changes the plan. Our group is really good about taking things in stride until they get a chance to light the fuse.”
Ontario Legends Series teams broke the seal on the 2018 schedule Sunday, May 20th during the Spring Velocity Weekend at Sunset Speedway. 27 teams signed-in at the venue north of Metropolitan Toronto, with 25 taking the green flag in the year’s first main event. Kevin Foisy etched his name into the record books as the new season’s first victor. Reigning series champion Matt Haufe, Wes Cuthbertson, Cole McFadden and Adam Cuthbertson rounded-out the top five.
“Starting the calendar with close to 30 teams in the pits is a great sign of things to come,” according to McFadden. “With a field comprised of raw rookies, experienced veterans and a smattering of former champions, we’re confident that car counts should be near the quarter-century mark throughout the year.”
