"The Radical Canada Cup’s forth season was very successful with great competition and growing grid sizes, we’ve recently sold several cars that will be racing with us in 2017" says Radical Canada’s President Robert Burgess.
Starting on May 13th at Watkins Glen, the championship will run six events and finish at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on October 1st. The opening round of the championship will be the biggest event of the season running in conjunction with the Radical Cup North American Masters Series. Each race weekend will consist of practice, qualifying sessions and two or three races, as well a test day held the Friday before each event. There will be lots of track time and participants will have the option of running just one day or having two drivers share a car to compete in the event.
2016 Radical Canada Cup Champion Bruce Gregory will be back for another season and said, "2016 was the most challenging season I've ever experienced, with more ups and downs than a roller-coaster. But we stayed with it all year, made it to every checkered flag, and managed to pull off the series championship. Truly satisfying, and I can't wait to get back to work defending the title in 2017."
Championship points will be awarded based on the CASC point system, each driver’s best 5 out of 6 events will be used to calculate their season points total. All participating cars must conform to the Series Rules which ensures parity amongst the Radicals and each driver must also have a valid racing license. The complete rule set can be found on the CASC website: www.casc.on.ca/roadracing_rules .
