Mirabel, July 8, 2013 - Drivers of the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) presented by Continental Tire have been looking forward to testing their cars and abilities on the very technical track of Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Québec. Competitiveness was intense.

Qualifiyng took place under sunny hot and humid conditions, the drivers' hope for sun came true. In Super Class, Rémy Audette, driving his new Honda Civic Si, grabbed the pole, followed by Sergio Pasian who stole second place from Mathieu Audette by being only 0.127 faster than him. Returning Touring champion, Damon Sharpe and his rival Michel Sallenbach kept trading fastest laps, but Sallenbach finally stole took the pole. Carlos Tesler-Mabe and his Mini Cooper S JCW managed to get third as starting position for Round 5.

Saturday, around 6 PM, drivers got on the race track determined to get on the podium. During this first race of the weekend, Rémy Audette had a strong lead on his brother Mathieu who was running his Acura RSX for the first time this season, leaving him in second most of the race. Unfortunately, Rémy ran out of fuel which allowed his brother to get first position. In second place, Scott Nicol was followed by a very happy Alex Healy, completing the podium trio for Round 5. Both Benjamin Distaulo and Jérimy Daniel had mechanical issues keeping them from finishing the race. In Touring Class, Michel Sallenbach landed first position followed by Damon Sharpe. Sharpe and Eric Lacouture gave a great show by battling for second place all along, finally leaving Lacouture third place.

Sunday morning, competitors were ready to get on the race track for the second race. Rémy Audette and his team redid their fuel calculations and managed to get a strong lead and crossed the finish line first. Remy was followed by Mathieu, making a double podium for Audette Racing in Super Class. The third step of the podium was obtained by Sergio Pasian on board of his BMW 330i. In Touring Class, Damon Sharpe was closely following Michel Sallenbach who spun and allowed Sharpe to overtake him and get the first position. However, Michel managed to stay in second position and was followed by Carlos Tesler-Mabe.

It was another great event for CTCC, drivers gave an exciting show and fans were very satisfied.

Rounds 7 and 8 will be disputed at Mont-Tremblant on July 26 and 27.

About CTCC
The Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) presented by Continental Tire is the only truly Canadian professional road racing series and showcases race cars based on their stock street version in three different categories (Classes). The entry-level B-Spec Class is the category for sub-compact cars with stock engines and strictly controlled suspension modifications; Touring Class features cars with minimal engine modifications, while Super Class machines have powerful and heavily modified engines and advanced aerodynamics. All three classes compete at the same time on the track and challenge for supremacy in their class.
