Under very nearly ideal conditions, misty and cool but with a dry track, it was the first seven and final five laps of the 45-minute Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear qualifying session that told the tale. In the final five Colombian racer Gabby Chaves scored his second consecutive PEAK Performance pole award with a lap of 1:19.279 and will start his #19 JDC Motorsports / CLARO / Marca Colombia / Tecpro Mazda from the inside of the front row in tomorrow's season finale of the 2012 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear during the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.

New 2012 World Rally Rankings

The world rally ranking of the IRDA (International Rally Drivers Association) is a classification system for rally drivers and co-drivers, produced weekly by the IRDA to enable objective comparisons between the various drivers and co-drivers of the world who race in the various leagues and trophies, at world, continental and national level. The ranking, which is the only one dedicated exclusively to rallyes worldwide, is established through a system of coefficients assigned to each rally, based on its importance and validity. From these factors, scores are obtained and are given to the first thirty classified crews of each rally in the 2012 FIA "International Sporting Calendar – Rallyes" which currently has 134 scheduled rallyes run or to be run on the 5 continents. Under the system currently in use, the scores are calculated on the results achieved by drivers and co-drivers in the last 12 months of racing, this system has been adopted to respond to the criticism according to which, over longer periods of time, the ranking would not have accurately reflected the actual and current value of drivers and co-drivers. Mitsubishi i-MiEV wins the Montreal Green Rally

Montreal, QC – The eighth round of the FIA Alternate Energy Cup was held last weekend in Montreal and a Mitsubishi i-MIEV steered by veteran rally driver Réjean Losier partnered with Ontarian codriver Brian Maxwell won for a second year the Class IIIA for electric vehicles. Held over two days, the Rallye International Vert de Montreal ran two separate road courses totalling more than 150 kilometres only in electric mode with preset speeds and hidden controls. By virtue of this victory, Losier and Maxwell will represent Mitsubishi next March in the first round of the 2013 Cup, the Monte-Carlo Alternate Energy Rally in Monaco.
