Stompin' Tom tops all-star field in MRE Pro Series opener

STROUD, ON - 28-time champion Stompin' Tom Walters (No. 47 Flagship Property Ventures/Pro Floor Sanding & Refinishing Ford) led all 75-laps of the inaugural race in the McColl Racing Enterprises Pro Series on May 27th. The Bradford, ON veteran, a Sunset Speedway regular, took the lead on the opening lap of competition, fending off a laundry list of challengers as the evening progressed through a number of late-race cautions.

Spencer Lewis' Inside Track Short Track Notebook: Weekend edition

Sauble Speedway will host its 2nd week of competition this Saturday (today), with the speedway's Thunder Car division headlining a card that also features the Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders. Defending Thunder Car champion Matt Mulholland captured victory on opening night, and finds himself atop the point standings heading into week 2. After a pair of shows that saw Scott McTeer and Jason Parker visit victory lane on May 19th & 20th, Sauble's Limited Late Model division will have the night off on May 26th, returning to action on June 2nd.

Sunset Speedway: Last lap havoc leads to Tiemersma win

After a 27-lap battle, two late-race restarts and a three day review process, Tony "The Gun" Tiemersma exited week-2 with his first Limited Late Model victory of the young 2012 season. With 3 laps remaining, it appeared as though the win would be settled between provincial heavyweights "Mr. Excitement" Chris Morrow (No. 11 Morrow Electric/Contractor Rental Supply Chevrolet) and Mike "Lights Out" Bentley (No. 51 Dave Bentley Motorsports Chevrolet). The pair had waged war from the drop of the green flag, swapping the lead 4 times over 27 laps, with the battle intensifying with each passing lap.

Mike Bentley secures a new car after heavy crash in Sunset opener

2011 Barrie Speedway 'Gary Reynolds Memorial' winner Mike 'Lights Out' Bentley has had a tumultuous start to the 2012 season to say the absolute least. The Acton, ON opened up his campaign at Sunset Speedway this past Saturday, and after posting impressive results through heat race qualifying, was caught up in a serious wreck during the evening's feature race.
