“We weren’t happy with how the car performed at the first couple of races, so we worked on some things during our test day and made some pretty aggressive changes” said Kennington.
The hard work by the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team proved fruitful. During the shakedown session in the afternoon Kennington was only seventh quickest and the team made further adjustments prior to the first of two races.
Starting third Kennington kept the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge toward the front of the field and collected another fifth-place finish
“Our concern is for longer runs, that’s when the handling goes away on the car” explained Kennington. “We made some additional changes and went back to some of the settings we knew would be effective. Just trying to keep it simple” he added.
The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge would start on pole position for the second of the 125 lap races. Kennington once again stayed with the fastest cars near the front of the field and continued his season of consistency by claiming a fourth-place result.
“We got better but still not quite where we wanted to be” said the driver. “Big shout out to the Castrol Edge Dodge team for the hard work today and leading up to this race. We’re looking forward to getting back to Jukasa Speedway for the next event and being back in victory lane.
The consistent results of the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team during the first four events of the 2020 season have put Kennington into third place in the overall point standings.
DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team will be back in action Saturday September 12th for the final double header weekend of the season at Jukasa Speedway in Hagersville, ON.
