“After a career in pavement racing, our transition to dirt took some getting used to,” admitted the father, mentor and coach. “Brandt and I like the things we’re learning in this new adventure. We’re both having fun and enjoying the opportunity to race against some different people and make some new racetrack friends.”
With the 2019 season winding-down and just over a handful of dates remaining on the schedule, Craig Graham sits in 10th spot in the Late Model standings, while Brandt – who picked-up his first career dirt track checkered flag earlier in the year – is sixth in the Canadian Modified title chase. The team has also run several out of town events at tracks including Merrittville, Humberstone, Ohsweken, Granby and RPM Speedway with some impressive results on unfamiliar turf. Next on the road trip agenda for the #98 Late Model is Sunday, August 11th at Cornwall Motor Speedway and Friday, October 4th; part of the Outlaw 200 Weekend at Fulton Speedway. The #14 Canadian Modified has an end of September date at South Buxton Speedway.
“Nothing we do would be possible without the best crew in short track racing,” Craig Graham said. “They work in some tough situations and through all kinds of different weather conditions, but Marten, Rick, Ted and Ian give Brandt and I the best equipment possible with their effort in the shop and at the track."
Although nothing has been etched in stone, once the local dirt track scene wraps-up for the year, Brandt Graham – who showed his pavement racing prowess by claiming the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series championship in 2016 and 2017 – is toying with the idea of running his father’s former track title winning chassis in Late Model action at Peterborough Speedway’s season-ending Autumn Colours Classic.
