Ryan Arbuthnot Scores Career Best DIRTcar Series

September 4, 2014- The 2014 regular season came to an end this past weekend as Ryan Arbuthnot and the Arbuthnot Racing team completed a busy weekend schedule featuring the usual Friday night visit to Mohawk Raceway, followed by Saturday night at Brockville and a rare Sunday appearance at Cornwall Speedway with a 125 lap Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified series race on the card.

Mohawk Raceway was up first on Friday night, and Arbuthnot entered the evening in sixth place in track points and seventh in points in the Frenchie's 358 Modified Series and looking to move forward in both.  After finishing fourth in his qualifying heat race, Arbuthnot returned to the pit area for some adjustments before hitting the track for the 50 lap main event.  Ryan started the race from the fifth position and maintained a top five position through most of the event.  He crossed the finish line with a solid fourth place finish.  Arbuthnot ended the season in sixth place in the overall track championship standings and finished seventh in the Frenchie's "Chevy Runs Deep Series".

The next stop on the weekend schedule was Saturday night at Brockville Speedway with twin 20 lap features on the schedule.  In the first event, Ryan started deep in the field in 16th place and worked his way forward quickly to score a fifth place finish.  In the final 20 lap event, He drove to a fourth place result after starting from 10th.  Arbuthnot ends the season at Brockville with a fifth place points position.

The DIRTcar 358 Modified Series was set to invade Cornwall Speedway on Sunday, but an early afternoon storm forced track officials to utilize a Monday afternoon raindate.  The hot afternoon sun played havoc with the track conditions, making it very dry and slick all day long.  This proved to be an advantage for Arbuthnot, as did a fantastic job throughout the day.  He won his qualifying heat race, and would redraw the 9th starting spot for the main event.  After just 25 laps he was already knocking on the door of the top five and soon gained the position and held it over the next 50 laps.  As the race slowed for the lap 75 break, Arbuthnot was in fourth place.  The team went to work changing tires and making some adjustments before going back to green for the final 50 laps.  With 119 laps up on the board and only six remaining, he moved up more position and finished with an outstanding 3rd place podium finish.

"It was a great day for us.  The track was really slick and a lot of fun to race on", says Arbuthnot.  "It was our best career series finish, and we are pretty proud of that.  I have to thank all the crew, as well as the Corey Wheeler (Sportsman) crew members and Dylan Evoy (Sportsman) team that helped out with our pit stop, and all of our sponsors and fans for their support during the season".

This coming Friday night, Arbuthnot will have another DIRTcar 358 Series race on the schedule as they travel to Autodrome Granby.  With the regular season over, the DIRTcar Series kicks into high gear with events the following weekend at Mohawk Raceway, and in two weeks time they are at RPM Speedway and Brighton.  Super DIRT Week is also fast approaching and the Arbuthnot Racing team is well underway in preparation for that event as well.

Arbuthnot Racing would like to thank Bob East (Crew Chief), Tyler Lambert, Krystyn, Dad (Steve), Susie and Grandfather (Ron) for all their hard work and support as well as sponsors Valley Sales and Equipment, Pirie Insulation, 1000 Islands RV, Welch LLP, Finnigan's Road House, Engine Research, Axcel Sports, Valken Racing, Pay Load, Finish Line Web Design, Number One Speed Shock Service and Bicknell Racing Products.  The team would also like to welcome Tony Corcoran Speed and Performance as a sponsor for the 2014 season.
