THOROLD, ON – Before the Big Dogs take to the track for the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinder Triple Crown Series Finale August 18th at Merrittville Speedway – the Avondale Food Stores sponsored event will see Big Dogs … Little Dogs and all breeds in between have their own time in front of the crowd at the Thorold DIRTcar facility.
Race Fans and Race Teams alike are encouraged to bring along their dogs for the annual Best Appearing Dog Contest prior to feature action for all 5 Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Divisions.
“For many of us in the stands and in the pits,” relays (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones, “racing is a family sport … and that family includes a dog … it’s their night to join in the fun and not be left home.”
During intermission, the front-stretch will resemble a Dog Park with the staging of a Best Appearing Dog Contest with some great prizes up for grabs.
For several seasons the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders have enjoyed a race within the season long points. In 2011, Rob Overholt took home his first Turn 4 Collision Triple Crown Series Title.
The mini-series opened on CAA Night with Rocco Conte taking the opener. The second event on Semenuk’s Esso & Archer Truck Services Night also had Conte in Victory Lane.
In the Triple Crown standings going into the event, Conte leads Kyle Pelrine with Tony Kelly 43 points out of top spot. Overholt and Greg Wilson close out the Top 5.
In addition to the Turn 4 Collision Triple Crown Finale … Avondale Food Stores Night features the Bobcat of Hamilton 358 Modifieds, Original Pizza Logs Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks and J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lites with their point races heating up as the Championship Chase winds down.
