#NCATS * #CBRT25 * @CBRTinc * Joey McColm and Canada’s Best Racing Team hit the track for round number eight of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series in the #25 CBRT Dodge this past weekend at Riverside International Speedway near Antigonish, NS. The team had a strong car but some unfortunate circumstances during pit stops hurt their final result.
The #25 CBRT Dodge team were anxious to race at the beautiful 1/3-mile oval track and the car performed well during practice.
“The car was pretty solid” said McColm. “We were just a little tight and made some adjustments for that” he added.
McColm would qualify the #25 CBRT Dodge seventh quickest and start the 300 lap race from the inside of row four and continue to run smooth consistent laps through the early part of the event.
“We just wanted to take our time knowing it was a long race” he explained.
All continued smoothly for the #25 CBRT Dodge team until scheduled pit stops near the middle of the event.
“It was a tough situation” said a disappointed McColm. “We had some confusion of what service we were going to do on that stop and as a result we ended up having to make another stop and it put us down a couple laps.”
Adding to the difficulty was a long green flag run following those pit stops.
“The car was really good but we just never got an opportunity to get our track position or collect a lucky dog to get our track position back” said McColm.
McColm would battle to the end of the race looking for opportunities to advance and would manage an eleventh place result.
“It’s not terrible considering our difficulties but it’s also frustrating wondering what might have been” said the driver. “We’ll review what happened and be better going forward from here.”
Even with the disappointing finish Joey McColm remains eighth in the overall championship standings.
Joey McColm and the #25 CBRT Dodge team return to action Sunday August 31st at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park as part of the NASCAR Truck series weekend.
