STROUD, ON (September 18, 2017)- After battling hard all year long, Lisa DeLeeuw was able to close out her 2017 points campaign at Sunset Speedway with a top-10 finish.
DeLeeuw was fast in her first heat, picking up a third-place finish, followed by a fifth in her second qualifier.
Starting the 25-lap feature on pole, she’d battle side-by-side with Josh Bullen for the lead, before taking the top spot on the second lap. Her advantage did not last for long, though, as she was passed on the following lap by Andy Kamrath before the race’s first caution. Restarting in second, she battled among the leaders, though would fade back to fifth by the second yellow flag at Lap 6.
Restarting inside the top-five, competition was at an all-time high at the front of the field, but she held her ground, only fading back to 11th by the race’s third caution. From there, she continued to battle hard, running 12th as of the last caution. Restarting there with three laps to go, she battled hard to cross the finish line in 12th. In the final results, though, she was bumped up to 10th following a pair of disqualifications.
