CALABOGIE, ON – Newly crowned Canadian National Champion in Rotax Max Senior, Quebec based Jesse Lazare had little time to enjoy his new title before returning to action. Lazare was back behind the wheel of his www.doordoctor.com/ BGR Piper entry last weekend at Calabogie, Ontario for the OFFC championship.
“It has been a busy week,” Lazare said. “I had a little time to enjoy the win last weekend, but now it is back to business in the FF1600.”
Lazare, who is getting more comfortable each time out in the Honda powered Piper, qualified well and then endured a race long battle for the win on Saturday. “It was a good battle, but the lapped traffic really cost me,” Lazare said. “I was pointed to the outside and I went there, but it cost me a position doing that.” Lazare set the fastest race lap, a small consolation for a hard fought effort. “The car was good,” Lazare said.
With the disappointment on Saturday behind him, on Sunday Lazare enjoyed another battle for the overall lead. This time the outcome was a little different as he came home the winner in OFFC. “It was a tough fight, but I am glad to come out with a win in the OFFC,” Lazare said after the race.
“I really like this track, it produces good races, and the BGR crew gave me a great car.”
Lazare will now have a few weeks off as he will start to prepare to represent Canada at the upcoming Rotax Max World Finals in Portugal.
