ST-EUSTACHE, QC (September 8, 2019)- DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team arrived at the Autodrome St. Eustache for round number 11 of the 2019 NASCAR Pinty’s Series looking to continue a season of strong finishes. After 250-laps of hard-fought competition on Sunday afternoon Kennington claimed the ninth top-ten finish of the season with a sixth-place finish.

Kennington posted the eighth quickest time in his #17 Castrol Edge Dodge during the Saturday practice session and felt the car would be even better during the race.

“We didn’t push too hard and never put new tires on during practice” explained Kennington. “I think we’ll be in good shape for the race” he added.

Persistent showers in the area washed out qualifying and forced the postponement of the race until Sunday afternoon. By rule the starting grid was set according to practice times and when the race began Kennington quickly had the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge on the move from his eighth-place position.

“We picked up a couple of spots and then just rode at a comfortable pace” said Kennington.

A scheduled caution period at the midway point allowed the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team to service the car giving Kennington four fresh tires, fuel and a handling adjustment.

“I was able to pick those spots, but the car wasn’t as strong as it could be” stated Kennington.

Charging hard once again in the second half of the race Kennington had the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge running fifth until the late stages when he surrendered one spot and took the checkered flag with a sixth-place result.

“We just didn’t quite have enough today” said a disappointed driver. “We got another solid result, but there’s more in the car that we didn’t find today. Big thanks to the whole Castrol Edge team for the hard work this weekend, we’re all pretty excited to get to New Hampshire to see what we can do on those long straightaways” said Kennington after the race.

DJ Kennington and the Castrol Edge Dodge team head to New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon, NH for the next event on Saturday September 21st.
