@NASCAR • @AutChaudiere • @DJKRacing • June 14, 2015.  The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team was back in action for round number two of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at the Autodrome Chaudière on Saturday night.  Driver DJ Kennington debuted a brand new oval car and scored a third place finish in the race.

During the afternoon practice sessions Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team worked to fine tune the set on the handling and posted quick times during both sessions.  During the qualifying run however Kennington only managed a 10th starting spot.

“We made a few changes for the race and sacrificed a bit during qualifying, but I felt good about how the car would behave during the race,” said Kennington.

As the 300 lap feature event began Kennington began seeking opportunities to move the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge forward in the field and gained several positions.  However just past the quarter mark of the race the handling seemed to be going away.

“I just wanted to hold on until halfway when we’d have a chance to make some adjustments” explained Kennington.

When the competition caution period arrived just past halfway the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team went to work fine tuning the car.

“The guys went over everything and decided to make a left rear tire change.  We sacrificed a little track position but felt it was worth it,” stated the driver.

When the racing resumed Kennington was on the charge looking to move the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge back toward the front.  Competition heated up in the closing stages and Kennington was equal to the task climbing back inside the top five.  Then in the closing stages Kennington made a final push and claimed a third place result, gaining seven positions from the start of the race.

“It’s a solid result for the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team,” said Kennington.  “It was the right call to make the changes to the car and the guys did a great job all day making us better.  I’m really happy with where we are with this car and that we get to go right back at it next week” he added.

After two races DJ Kennington sits third in the overall championship standings.

The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team is back in Ontario to race at Sunset Speedway on Saturday June 20th.

Broadcast Note:  Race fans can watch all the action from the race number Saturday June 20th at Noon Eastern on TSN and Friday July 3rd on RDS2 at 10PM Eastern.
