August 31, 2014. Bowmanville, ON- Jason White returned to competition in the #28 Powder Ventures Dodge for round number nine of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) this past weekend. White looked to be headed for a positive result until a mechanical failure ended his day early.
Following a busy summer that kept him away from the race track Jason White picked up right where he left off piloting the DJK Racing prepared #28 Power Ventures Dodge by showing continued improvement throughout the race weekend.
“We talked about it Friday and our goal was to get better every session” White explained.
Lap times dropped through both practice sessions and White qualified his #28 Powder Ventures Dodge second quick in his group during the late afternoon session on Saturday.
Rolling off from row nine for the 51 lap race on Sunday the plan was still the same for the #28 Powder Ventures Dodge group, keep improving. As the race progressed White put down some impressive lap times and moved the #28 Powder Ventures Dodge forward in the field.
“I was just trying to stay in a nice rhythm, the car was feeling really good and we were heading to the front” he stated.
In the late stages of the race White continued to improve his position on the track. The #28 Powder Ventures Dodge was poised for a solid result until misfortune struck. Smoke appeared from underneath the car forcing White to make an unscheduled pit stop.
“My heart sunk when I saw that” said White
The #28 Powder Ventures team assessed the problem as quickly as possible and determined a wheel seal had malfunctioned and it would force White out of the race prematurely.
“When I look at the final results and see the top ten cars, it’s frustrating” said White. “I passed a bunch of those cars and know that we could have had ourselves a dynamite finish. But I have to thank the whole crew for working hard and I’m looking forward to being back in a couple of weeks.”
The next event for the #28 Powder Ventures Dodge will be on Saturday September 20th at Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough, ON.
