After finishing fifth last week at Brockville, Jarrett Herbison was looking forward to returning to the track on Wednesday night and getting back to victory lane after winning the first three races of the season. Herbison also raced at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night.
At Brockville, Herbison made an impressive move on lap five of the 15-lap race to take the lead and never looked back. The win was his fourth of the 2012 season at Brockville in just five starts. The win also put him within one win of his father, Chris, as he tries to keep up the pace that his father is setting on the big track.
“We are having a great year so far, just like my Dad,” said Herbison. “Hopefully we can both keep it up and win the championships. We have really improved from last year, the kart is working good, and we are having a lot of fun.”
On Friday night, Herbison traveled to Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night looking for his first win at the Lafargeville, NY, track. Herbison had a strong run, and finished the night with a second place finish.
“I really think we had a kart that could have won tonight,” Herbison said. “We got hit from behind while trying to pass the leader, and couldn’t get back up to him in time before the race ended.”
This coming week, Herbison will be back at Brockville on Wednesday night, and Can Am on Friday looking to capture another win. Herbison currently is at the top of the leader board in the Jr. Sportsman 2 division with a commanding 34-point lead over second place.
