In the January 13th episode of Spencer Lewis’ Short Track Notebook, we detail a champion’s return to Sauble Speedway, an exciting new addition to Delaware’s Late Model roster, the newest member of London Recreational Racing and Vol 13 of our Bench Racing series featuring OSCAAR president Dave Gainforth and former OSCAAR champion Derrick Tiemersma.
Two-time Sauble Speedway champion Scott McTeer has announced he will return to the speedway’s Ltd. Late Model division in hopes of a third straight title in 2014. The Tiverton, ON driver debuted in a LLM in 2011, after a wildly successful career in the Thunder Car division, amassing a number of championships and numerous feature victories. McTeer will once again pilot a McColl Racing Enterprises chassis, and joins Josh Stade and Shawn McGlynn on the growing roster of drivers heading to ‘the Beach’ in 2014. Marketing support for McTeer’s third championship campaign will come from www.SecretsOfTuscany.com, Lake Huron Rod & Gun, Carey Optical and Expressway Trucks. The veteran has also confirmed he will return to Peterborough’s lauded Autumn Colours Classic in October, and hopes to visit Sunset Speedway at least once throughout the season.
Delaware Speedway Truck division standout Brady Smith has sent along these shots, as he begins preparations for his 2014 season. The Coldstream, ON driver has acquired a chassis from 2-time Great Canadian Race winner Jesse Kennedy, and will compete fulltime at Delaware with hopes of earning the 2014 Late Model Rookie of the Year title. Smith enters the Late Model division riding a wave of momentum, after a very impressive 2013 season in the Truck division, and is an early favorite to be the Late Model’s top freshman. We’ll be sure to feature Smith’s ride again once it’s been lettered, in the meantime, fans can follow Smith on Twitter @BradySmith39.
Mike Schmidt’s London Recreational Racing team has announced that they have welcomed Ltd. Late Model veteran Amanda Connolly to the squad for the 2014 race season. The Aurora, ON-based driver will compete part time in Peterborough Speedway’s top division, and joins a team already laden with championship contenders in Andrew Gresel, Shawn Chenoweth, Russ Aicken and Brad Collison. Connolly’s chassis will receive a number of off-season upgrades from Dan McHattie and Dan McHattie Racecars, fans can keep tabs on the winter prep by following Connolly on Twitter @16Racer.
