@HollandSpeedway • HOLLAND, NY… Tommy Catalano from Ontario, NY and from shared the spotlight at the Holland Motorsports Complex on Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Night as he picked up both victories in the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Modified Twin 25’s.
Bill Osborn from Darien, NY earned his first career feature win in the Seneca Niagara Casino Late Models. Eric Brown from Holland, NY earned his first Bank of Holland NASCAR Charger feature of the season. Josh Hill from Irving, NY won his first Hornets feature of the season. Dave Wollaber from North Tonawanda, NY out-raced Kyle Hutchinson to earn the victory in the Jerry Gradl Motors NYPA TQ Midgets. Brandon DeBrakeleer from Mill Village, Pennsylvania picked up the victory in the INEX Legends feature event. Scott Wylie from Hamburg, NY earned his second E-Mod victory of the season. Joe Mastrocicco III from Lackawanna, NY picked up the victory in the M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s. DJ Phillips from Angola, NY picked up the feature for the Future 4’s.
The first Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency Pro Modified feature was led to the green flag by Bobby Martin and Andy Nye with Nye leading the way with brother Shawn racing in second at the end of the first scored lap. Shawn would work underneath Andy and would take over the lead on lap three with Jake Vernon running in second place. Andy Nye would spin in turn two to bring out the races first caution on lap seven. The restart would see Vernon race into the lead as Amy Catalano would clear her son Tommy to take over third and Kevin Miller racing in fourth. Tommy Catalano would take the lead away from Vernon off a mid-race restart. Catalano would hold off Mike Fiebelkorn Jr, Amy Catalano and Jimmy Zacharias to collect his second win on the season.
In the nightcap, Alan Bookmiller took the lead away from Connor Sellers at the start of the second Pro Modified twin 25 lap feature. Neal Dietz Jr would take over the lead from Bookmiller on lap three and quickly opened up the advantage over the rest of the field. The caution would come out on lap four as Pete Sisti spun on the exit of turn four. As cars started to avoid the spinning Sisti, Jake Vernon and Kevin Miller would hook nerf-bars and George Skora III, driving a Zacharias-owned racer would have the worst end of the incident as Skora ended up into the front stretch wall. The restart green saw Dietz jump out to the lead as Mike Fiebelkorn Jr would pass Sellers to move into third place. Fiebelkorn would then pass Bookmiller on lap seven to take over second just as Tommy Catalano passed Sellers to move into fourth. Catalano would pass Bookmiller on lap eight to take over third place. Bookmiller’s strong run would come to an end on lap 11 as he spun down the back straightaway. After jumping a pair of restarts, Dietz and Fiebelkorn Jr were penalized to the second row, giving Tommy Catalano and Connor Sellers on the front row for the lap 11 restart with Catalano taking over the lead with Fiebelkorn Jr taking over second with Dietz falling back to third. Connor Sellers would spin in turn two to bring out the caution on lap 16. The restart saw Catalano back into the lead with Fiebelkorn, Amy Catalano and Jimmy Zacharias taking over fourth. Ed Schueler would spin in turn one to slow the field down one more time on lap 19, setting up a six lap dash for the checkers. Dietz’s strong top-three run would come to an end as he got pushed back to the pits courtesy of a tow truck. Catalano would jump back into the lead as Jimmy Zacharias took over third. Catalano would hold off Fiebelkorn and Zacharias to score his third win on the season and second on the night.
The Bank of Holland Chargers were led to the green flag by Tony Bilotte and Trevor Pettit with Billotte showing the way early. Jim Loffredo would take over the lead on lap three after going underneath Billotte. Eric Brown would take over the runner up spot from Bilotte and would begin to chase down Loffredo. The caution would come out on lap 14 for a multi-car crash on the back straightaway, which leader Loffredo was involved. Eric Brown would take over the lead off the restart as Ken Maltby would challenge Hamann for second and would clear Kris Hamann on lap 18. Brown would drive on the win, his first Charger triumph of 2015. Maltby would finish in second with Dave Wilson Jr, Tom Northem and Kris Hamann completing the top five.
Bill Osborn led from the drop of the green flag in the feature event for the Seneca Niagara Casino Late Models. Osborn would open up the advantage over Eric Brown and Brandon Glover to pick up his first career feature win. Osborn picked up the victory over Brown with Glover in third and Josh Hathaway completing the top four.
Josh Hill would lead the opening circuits in the 25 lap feature for the Hornet feature event. Louis Carbone and Bob Bogner would come together on the back straightaway on lap three to slow the field down for the first time. The red flag was brought out and both drivers were alert and talking to track officials. The field went back to the green flag with Hill showing the way over Michele Maltby with Jeff Szafraniec and Timmy Catalano racing in the top four. Hill would hold off the hard charging Jeff Szafraniec to pick up his first win of the season. Michele Maltby would finish a career best third place and was followed to the line by Timmy Catalano and Bob Bogner.
Charlie DiRosa and Nick Groff brought the field of Jerry Gradl Motors NYPA TQ Midgets to the green flag for their main event with DiRosa jumping into the lead. DiRosa and Groff would continue to battle side by side for the lead over the first few circuits with Groff taking the advantage away from DiRosa on lap five. Off an early restart, Andy Nye would clear Groff and would take over the lead on lap seven. Jonathan Reid would take over second as Kyle Hutchinson and Dave Wollaber would start making treks towards the front of the field. Hutchinson would take the lead away from Nye off a lap nine restart with Wollaber jumping into second. Hutchinson and Wollaber would pull away from Andy Nye as Reid and Shawn Nye raced in the top five. Fifth place racer Shawn Nye would take his ride to the infield with five laps remaining. Dave Wollaber would drive to the outside of Hutchinson and would steal the win for his third of the season. Reid, Andy Nye, and Jeremy Haudricourt would complete the top five
Matt Mead and Brandon DeBrakeleer shared the front row for the 20 lap feature for the INEX Legends with DeBrakeleer showing the way. DeBrakeleer would have some company in the form of Jeremy Haudricourt as the lead duo would also encounter Carl Vilardo IV as the top three would battle for the lead. Vilardo would work underneath DeBrakeleer for the lead. Vilardo’s strong run would end on lap seven as he pulled it out of action. Owen Bednasz would be the benefactor of Vilardo pulling out of action as Bednasz would take the runner up spot away. DeBrakeleer would pull away from Bednasz, Haudricourt and Mead to sweep the weekend and pick up his first Holland win of the season, and the 100th win of his young career. Bednasz, Haudricourt, and Mead would complete the top four.
The E-Mods made their third guest visit of the season as Chris Briggs would set the pace in the 15 lap feature go. Third generation driver Scott Wylie worked his way up to third on the opening lap and then took over second on lap two. Wylie would then not waste any time as he would take over the lead on lap three. Carter Mook would race past Briggs to take over second and would begin to chase down Wylie. Wylie would go on to collect his second win of the season.
Joe Mastrocicco led from the start of the M&M U Pull-It Figure 8 car feature. Shane Toms and Jason Adams would reel in Chico. Adams would get around Toms for second with four laps remaining. Adams would try everything to reel in Mastrocicco but Mastrocicco’s lead was strong enough as Mastrocicco would end Jason Adams’s winning streak to pick up the victory.
DJ Phillips was on cruise control as he took the lead from the drop of the green flag of the Future 4 event. Phillips dominated the event, leading all the circuits to pick up his second win of the season. Nikki Maltby would finish in second with Travis Murphy rounding out the podium.
