@FTMSpeedway • Varney ON – Kitchener driver Shane Stickel drove a flawless race taking advantage of opportunities when they came along to capture round one of the Rick Woolner Memorial race Saturday night at Full Throttle Motor Speedway.

In the end Stickel had to out duel two racing veterans of the OSCCAR Modified field for the win by the names #36 Gary Elliott from Waterdown and home track favourite #8 Gary McLean from Conn.  #39 Stickel worked his way to the lead by lap twenty of this fifty lap feature and never looked back.  Also rounding out the top where #12 David Balych from Caledon and #09 Dan Price from Whitby.  Heat winners where #8 Gary McLean, #12 David Balych, #09 Dan Price and #47 Brian McLean from Conn.

The OSCCAR Midgets also were on hand to put on an outstanding show of their own with the dominate #2 Jessica James bringing home the feature win along with two heat wins earlier in the night.  James would jump to the lead by lap ten of the thirty lap feature then all she had to do was work her way though lap traffic.  Second would go to #55 Cory Whittam, third #97 Robin McLean, fourth #18 Paul Draganoc and rounding out the top five #48 Brian Woodland.  Other heat winners where #5 Jody Bound, #62 Rob McColl, #97 Robin McLean and #18 Paul Draganoc.

Also on the race card this night where the Ontario Pro Challenge series always a crowd pleaser at the highbanks.  Pro Challenge race cars are spec 3/4 scale, tube framed Nextel Cup styled cars powered by sealed Kawasaki Ninja 1100cc engines.  In the end of a hard fought feature race it would be #88 Tim Norris bringing home the checker flag.  He would be followed by the hard changing #91 Mike Westwood, third would go to #18 Patrick Freel, fourth #3  Dale Wilson and rounding out the top five 02 Dennis Thomson.

The Outlaw Late Models would round out a great day of racing action, in feature one it would be #11 Cole Weber from New Hamburg out running #76 Tyler Williams of Chesley.  Third would go to #40 Mark Dixon of Durham, fourth #00 Trevor Thompson from Elmira and fifth #3 Jeff Defoe from Britten.   In feature two #11 Cole Weber would find his night end early as he moved to an open hole in the field battling for the lead going down the front stretch only to find that a slow moving car trying to make its way to the pits was at that end of the hole heavily damaging Weber’s car as a result.  In the end it would be #23 Paul Milligan from Inisfill taking the checker followed by #76 Tyler Williams, third #00 Trevor Thompson, forth #40 Mark Dixon and rounding out the top five #3 Jeff  Defoe.

Next racing action is this coming Friday June 19th for Fun Stocks, Super Trucks, Winged Modified, Street Stocks, Thunder Cars, and the first ever visit by the Ontario Topless Sprints for twin 25’s.  All the action starts at 7:30 PM with gates opening at 5 PM and all for the regular low grandstand price of just $13.00 ages 11 and up and just $2.00 ages 10 and down.
