Since its inception more than a dozen years ago, teams with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, presented by GEN-3 Electrical have turned laps at some of the best-known motorsports facilities in the province. Saturday, July 1st, OMRS celebrates Canada Day with the year’s first of 3 dates at Flamboro Speedway.
Running for the first time since the 2023 season opener, racers are looking forward to getting back track at the venerable Hamilton, Ontario area raceway. The Canada Day event at Flamboro kicks-off a busy month for the group, with back-to-back shows Saturday, July 15th and 22nd at Peterborough Speedway also on the agenda. Before this weekend’s green flag, OMRS racer, official and series spokesperson Rick Warnes says there is a bit of housekeeping to take care of from the opening round.
“Due to an infraction discovered in post-race technical inspection, the No. 35 of Chad Strawn was placed in last position in the heats and feature event at the Saturday, May 27th Peterborough Speedway event,” explained Rick Warnes. “This moved all finishing positions forward and the point standings were calculated accordingly.”
Warnes says that after a lengthy layoff, travelling and racing 3 weekends out of 5 can be a double-edged sword but like the rest of the teams on this year’s roster, he’s anxious to get going again.
2023 OMRS Point Standings:
63 John Baker Jr 80
