Pomona, Calif., Nov. 6, 2012 – Greg Anderson wants to end the 2012 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season on a positive note by driving the Summit Racing Pro Stock Chevrolet Camaro into the winner’s circle at this weekend’s 48th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals.
“You always try and make a statement at the last race and let everyone know you are a serious threat for next year,” explained the four-time Pro Stock champion. “You hope to draw last blood with a victory and give everyone, including the guy who is going to become the champion, something to think about over the winter. A win here helps give you confidence going into the off season and puts some doubt into other drivers’ minds.”
Fifth in the Countdown to the Championship points standings coming into season-ending at Auto Club NHRA Finals, Anderson hopes to have some fun.
“It looks like it will be a fast track this weekend and we always like going fast–a Pro Stocker’s dream,” he said. “It should be a fun weekend and KB Racing should have two fast hot rods, including rolling out a new engine in my car.
“And unlike the last two races, I’m looking forward to running to the finish line and not pulling my chutes early,” Anderson added, referring to attempts to position himself in the past two races to help Summit teammate Jason Line, then challenging for the championship.
On a related note, Greg Anderson’s Summit Racing/KB Racing crew is in the running for the NHRA’s 2012 Hard-Working Crew Awards. Four teams from each of the professional racing classes are nominated for the Award, which is chosen by popular vote by NHRA racing fans.
Anderson’s crew—with assistance from his teammate Jason Line—made the list for their efforts at the Toyota Supernationals in Englishtown, New Jersey. They accomplished one of the hardest things in racing: debuting a brand new race car (the 2012 Summit Racing Camaro) and getting their driver into the winner’s circle—the 100th victory for KB Racing.
