September 20, 2014-  Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team looked to be on the way to a top finish at the final round of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series at Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough, Ontario on Saturday night.  However a mechanical issue and contact would ultimately end their night early.

Ranger posted the quickest time during the first practice and was again quick and consistent during the final practice session.  He followed that up by posting the second fastest lap during qualifying putting the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge on the outside of the front row to start the 250 lap feature event.

“I expected to have a good starting spot” said Ranger.  “The car felt very good during practice and I really like how you can push the car at this track.”

In the early going of the race Ranger kept the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge near the front of the field maintaining a comfortable pace and looking for opportunities to improve his position.  Before the race was at the halfway mark Ranger wound up in a battle for position with other competitors and came out on the losing end, damaging the right front suspension.

“I’m not sure what happened I felt something that we maybe lost the power for a moment and there was contact” said the driver.

Bringing the #27 Mopar Parts car to pit road the team determined the right front tie rod was the problem and made the change along with other repairs trying to right the problems.  Ranger returned to the race many laps down before being forced to retire early.

“This is so frustrating” said Ranger.  “We had some trouble in the last couple of races and I’m very disappointed for Mopar and the team.”

“This is a tough way to end the season” he added.

With the eleven race season concluded Andrew Ranger wound up sixth in the overall championship standings.

“I want to thank everyone at Mopar and DJK Racing for all the hard work this year, we had some success winning races, but we also know that we’ll make improvements in the off season to be better in 2015” stated Ranger.
