September 20, 2014- Canada’s Best Racing Team with driver Joey McColm at the wheel of the #25 TSC Dodge were in a good position to wrap up the NASCAR Canadian Tire series at the final event held at Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough, Ontario with an excellent finishing result. Contact during the race would hamper their finishing result but they once again showed they are a team on the rise.
McColm had the #25 TSC Dodge near the top of the time sheets during practice sessions and held the provisional pole briefly during the qualifying session. When the session ended McColm lined up seventh for the race.
“That was a better qualifying run for me” said the driver. “It’s something I’ve worked on to improve this season.”
When the green flag waved for the 250 lap feature race McColm was running strong in the #25 TSC Dodge near the front of the field, moving up a position whenever the opportunity came. Circumstances changed quickly however and McColm had contact with another car.
“It’s tough, it was early in the race and I try to give guys room; especially that early but we didn’t get a break” said the driver.
This would not be the only incident of the night for McColm and the #25 TSC Dodge. Contact later in the race would result in a dangling rear bumper panel. McColm was forced to make a green flag pit stop and the “Pacmen Pit Crew” removed the panel with lightning speed to return the car to the fight.
Following the early setback that put him at the back of the field McColm battled all night for every position and when the checkered flag fell had climbed back up to 14th position.
“It was a tough night for us in terms of race result, but I’m just so proud of this team and how hard they worked all season” said McColm.
With the race season now complete Joey McColm finished eighth in the overall standings.
“Eighth place is pretty good but what really excites me is seeing the growth of our team and how much stronger we got as the season went on. We’ve got so much momentum that we’re going to carry through the winter, we’ll be even stronger in 2015”.
