CORNWALL, ON – Artist in Residence hosted the Eastern Ontario Vintage Club, along with a full program, as the Mini-Stock had a night off. Mother Nature was active throughout the evening but we were able to complete the program.
Joey Ladouceur was the early leader in the JLB Heating and Cooling 358-Modified feature, as a lap 4 restart was good for Corey Wheeler being able to pass Ladouceur using the middle lane. Wheeler got into lap traffic on lap 12, as Ladouceur and Johnathon Ferguson had a good battle for the second spot. Wheeler was doing well in lap traffic as no change in the top-three with Ladouceur and Ferguson. The final portion of the event was all Wheeler as he took his first feature of 2023 over Ladouceur and Ferguson.
Thomas Cook took the lead in the 25-lap Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman as Donovan Lussier and Shane Pecore were behind him. Lap traffic became a factor as Lussier surprised Cook on lap 16, while William Racine moved up quickly to the field and took the lead on lap 22 over Lussier. Racine went on to win a second in a row over Lussier and Pecore.
The 25-lap Alexandria Home Hardware division saw Sid Harmer Jr taking the lead as a few cautions slowed the field in the first portion of the event. Marc Lalonde saw the opening on the lap 5 restart as he took the lead. Then a three-way battle for the lead as Burton Ward joined the front pack with 10 laps to go. The feature went to overtime as Lalonde went on to record his second win this season.
Sylvain Dupuis led the whole 20-lap Novice Sportsman Fun Zone Inflatables and captured his first ever win in the division.
Jason Riddell and Matt Barber had a great battle in the 20-lap Eastern Ontario Vintage Club feature as Barber took the lead over Riddell and pulled away from the field at the halfway point. Barber led the feature to capture the win in the 70-80 as Pete Stapper got the win in the 50-60 class.
