May 27, 2013- On a brisk May evening, Campbellford Chrysler and CBM Aggregates presented a complete race program at Brighton Speedway.  All five Brighton Speedway divisions were in action plus the Larry’s Towing Spectator One on One races fascinated fans and justified the cool battle.

The Quinte Septic Stingers returned to action after week off and it was 2012 champion #19 Del MacGregor returning to victory lane.  MacGregor started near the back and took his time working his way to the front avoiding a few early race cautions.  He chased #42 Andy Fletcher for the lead late in the race when Fletcher seemed to suffer mechanical woes with three laps remaining opening the door for MacGregor who went on for his first checker of the season.

Bills John’s Comp 4 Feature went green to checker and it was the #08 Josh French that would work his way from the third starting position to take his first ever feature win.  French would have to chase down the #36 of Stephen Gisa who led the first half of the race.  He was able to get underneath Gisa and take the top spot and would hold on to the checkers.  French’s double win for evening was enough to earn him the Campbellford Chrysler Driver of the Week.  The Comp 4 finish also saw two technical disqualifications that affected the top 5.  #1 Kevin Scott and #19 Brandon Murrell were removed from the top five after failing post race inspection.

The OilGard Anti Rust Canadian Modifieds hit the track and it was #19 Zeke McKeown who started inside row two and made quick work to move to the front of the field.  McKeown had his hands full fending off a number of challengers especially during restarts.  A rash of cautions around the lap 20 mark would keep McKeown on his toes as #87 Andrew Hennessy, #48 Derrick Greig and #33 Ryan Scott would all apply pressure.  Heading for the start/finish line McKeown would hold off all challengers and take home his first win of the season followed by current points leader Scott and last week’s winner Hennessy.

For the Vanderlaan Building Supplies Pro Late Models it was a quick feature.  Just one caution slowed the 30 lap main event in the opening laps, and then it was nothing but green flag action.  The early race battle was between week two winner #5 Steve Baldwin and #09 Mat Vanderlinden.  The two raced a number of laps side by side until Baldwin was finally able to work his way under Vanderlined and clear him on lap 6.  Baldwin wouldn’t look back from there as it appeared his #5 Rocket Late Model was on cruise control and unstoppable.  #29 Phil Potts would work his way past Vanderlinden for second and would try and chase down Baldwin but to no avail.  Baldwin would win his second feature of the season followed by Potts and Vanderlinden.

The Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks were the final feature of the night and #72 of Doug Anderson took the lead on lap 11 and never looked back in the 30 lap extra distance Larry’s Towing Triple Crown event.  Anderson would be followed across the finish by #23 Rob Perry and #36 Mitch Rosborough.
