May 27, 2013- After getting off to a bit of a slow start to the season at Brockville, Brian Comeau and the rest of the Kitley Motorsports team arrived back at the track on Saturday night ready to make some steady improvements after a grueling week in the shop getting trying to find some answers to the early season issues they had been experiencing.
Although Brian Comeau had posted a couple of top ten finishes at Can Am, the same success wasn’t there after the first two weeks at Brockville. Going into this past weekend, the team was confident that they would be much improved. He finished his qualifying heat race from fourth place, and after a few adjustments on the car, they were ready for the 25 lap feature. He started the feature from the fourth position and maintained a strong pace throughout the entire distance. He had dropped as low as eighth at one time, but rebounded to bring home a solid sixth place finish.
Ryan Comeau also had a fantastic night going, as he finished third in his qualifying heat race, and lined up for the feature race from the outside of the front row. He was having a great run going, holding his own well within the top ten, when he cut a left front tire, sending him to the pits in the late stages of the race.
The early season struggles continued though for Jason Powers at Brockville. He finished fourth in his qualifying heat race and started deep in the field for the main event. Powers was able to move up to as high as 18th at the conclusion of the race.
On Sunday, Brian Comeau had planned to get the season underway at Cornwall Speedway, but for the second week in a row, the track had to cancel due to rain. This will now set up a busy weekend, with the first round of the Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series at Brockville on Saturday night, and the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series at Cornwall on Sunday night.
