I am testing the waters on selling my 1978 Mustang II street/drag car. This car was a purpose built bracket car to run in the mid 11’s all day long with all runs within .10 seconds. The car is a pro champion car back in the late 98’s this class then was 10.00 – 14.99. Also we stepped up and ran Super pro class and finished 3rd in that class. 7.99 – 11.99. The car has been used little and not raced for 20 years after my crew chief/father passed in 2002. I drive the car a few times each year as I kept it licences and insured for street use but unfortunately I normally now enjoy just letting it idle for five minutes every couple months. My son is 18 I was hoping to race it with him but he has no interest that is one reason to sell it and I picked up a more modern GT 500 I am enjoying.
Starting from the front the car has a Griffin aluminum rad MSD 6AL Mizier electric water pump electric fans.
Engine is a 10 sec possible 9.99 in a lighter car this one is mostly steel.
Short block is a 347 eagle stroked kit forged crank H-Beam rods flat top forged pistons balanced after market harmonic balancer we put a JP main stud girdle that ties all the mains together all ARP bolts for added strengthen the short block. The cam is crazy SOLID ROLLER Crane with .613 lift 300 duration (lifters alone were over $1000) Hi volume fuel pump and oversize motorsport oil pan and pump.
Top of engine is Dart 2 aluminum heads 2.02/1.60 valves minor port work. Vic Jr intake Holley 800 DP carb 1.6 Crane roller rockers ARP studs crane push rods MSD billet distributer and coil. Ceramic coated headers feeds empty converters and new HP mufflers all new added in 2015 as got some hassle on the street for noise LOL.
Also used in the set up is a Super Power shot NOS system adjustable from 50hp to 150hp. We used snow mobile jets approx. 50hp or .30 on the NOS and .38 on the fuel (from memory) very little spray. This took the air characteristics humidity tuning out of the picture to an extent and actually made the car more consistent than most cars especially in the heat. The NOS O2 in the spray at 900lbs was steady and we got 10 passes per bottle changed it with 3lbs left in. We did hit it with the 150 for fun in a fastest street car event in 1996 had to do three passes in a row and not open hood we went 10.73 at 122mps with an average of 10.96 over three passes and won the event. Yes a couple cars went 9.90 but over heated before pass three that was prior engine but a fun story. This engine was built in 2000 and has more HP I raced this at 11.70 to control ET and win never did hit it with a 150 shot but should be 10 something.
3500 stall aftermarket converter
