Toronto, Ontario (May 23, 2014) – Luke Chudleigh heads to Austria’s Red Bull Ring for Round 3 of the 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS Series this weekend, Saturday 24th – Sunday 25th May, feeling confident after a strong pre-season test at the circuit and a season’s best eighth place finish last time out at the ‘Grand Prix du Pau’.
This weekend’s trip to the 4.3km Red Bull Ring, located just outside the Austrian city of Spielberg, has Chudleigh (19) hoping for a repeat of form after a productive pre-season test just a couple of months ago. The Vitamindrip®-backed driver posted top-three lap times throughout his previous visit with Tech1 Racing and with two hour-long practice sessions this Friday, hopes to dial himself right back in to where he left off.
He evidenced his pace in Round 2 a fortnight ago on the streets of Pau where he was cruelly denied a double top-ten result thanks to an on-going electrical issue. Luke’s Saturday charge, despite those issues, resulted in an eighth place finish, his best of the campaign to-date, but the Sunday race had him flying through the field from 14th and in to fifth before his retirement.
“Well I’m pleased to say that we did successfully diagnose the issues that blunted our Pau weekend,” stated Chudleigh in Austria. “My car now has brand new electronics and I’m hoping that’s an end to what’s really been a season-long issue. As always though, looking at the positives, despite those problems, I was really happy with my races in Pau. We had some great speed and in the second race, we carried that into the top-five.”
“My goal now for the Red Bull Ring is to make sure we have a good, solid rhythm all weekend long. I know we have a strong package and it’s down to us to build on what we were accomplishing in Pau. The Red Bull Ring is a fun track. I really enjoyed testing here earlier in the year. The nature of the circuit means we’ll have some close races. I can’t wait to get back on-track and hopefully set us up for a strong couple of races.”
Round 3 of the 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS Series starts with Race 1 on Saturday (24th May) followed by Race 2 on Sunday (25th May). Each race lasts for 25 minutes plus one lap.
