BROCKVILLE, ON (November 11, 2020)- At the track or during the off season, things can happen quickly on the local racing scene.

Chris Herbison found some bite and showed he knew something about the local layout that the invaders might have missed as he pushed things to the limit in the biggest race of his abbreviated 2020 season. The home track hero stuck to running the ragged edge Saturday, October 3 in a quest to gain some ground on the leaders in search of a $9600 winner’s payday.

Just a few days after wheeling his No. 63 machine around the top side of Brockville Ontario Speedway to a seventh place finish in the 96 lap finale at the Northeast Fall Nationals, Chris Herbison made an announcement in a Facebook post that his car owners Stewart’s Racing had decided to discontinue their 358 Modified program. Herbison says he appreciates the opportunity to be part of the team for the last decade of action.

“I’d like to thank Chris and Cindy Stewart, Dale and Barb Stewart for the chance to wheel their equipment,” Herbison explained. “Huge thanks to my wife Tammy for her tremendous support and encouragement. Also, to our son Jarrett who inspires me to be better every time he’s on the track. Its been a great ride with an amazing team and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

As it turns out, the Brockville Ontario Speedway hometown fan favourite wasn’t long confirming his 2021 plans. The 47-year-old Herbison – who won the 1995 Street Stock crown, Sportsman-Modified track championships in 2011 and 2012, along with the Northeast Fall Nationals Sportsman titles in 2011 and 2013 – made another announcement via Facebook Sunday, October 25th.

“For the first time in about 15 years, I’ll once again running my own program under the HR Motorsports banner,” Chris Herbison said. “After teaming-up with Polite Sand & Gravel and acquiring last year’s Small Block Modified equipment from the Stewart’s, we’re looking forward to this new adventure with some great partners and getting back to the track in 2021. I have to say ‘thanks’ to my family, as well as Steve, Ann-Marie, Kenny Polite and their families for the opportunity. The new race season can’t get here soon enough.”

Now that his plans for next year have been confirmed, Chris Herbison says its time to start putting the team’s sponsorship program together. The car will carry backing from Steve Polite Sand & Gravel and Herbison Tree Service. Businesses, products and services interested in coming on board for the upcoming schedule can reach-out via e-mail herbfamily63@yahoo.ca for a copy of their marketing package. The team is also considering a fan poll to help decide if the car number should be changed to represent the new partnership, or if they’ll stay the course with No. 63.
