BGR Team Grote is pleased to announce the first signing of the new season with Zacharie Robichon making the full time jump to F1600 competition with the winning team. After getting a taste at the 2012 season finale where he impressed the team and his peers, Robichon will now focus on a full campaign for 2013. An accomplished karter who recently represented Canada at the World Karting Championships in Portugal, Robichon will be a contender for not only the Rookie of the Year, but the overall title.
Zacharie will pilot the teams winning Piper DF5 with HPD Honda power. BGR is the Piper Racecars dealer for Canada and as such is supported by the factory with all the latest updates and information. The first year for the new chassis in Canada was very successful with both cars visiting the winners circle with different drivers. Even as rookies, the 2012 drivers Mitchell Jr and Lazare won races, set fastest laps, and put the car on the pole throughout the season.
” I am really excited to have been given the opportunity to be racing with Brian Graham Racing this year. This being my first season in car racing I couldn’t think of a better way to start then with the BGR Team Grote. The team has a great history of developing drivers early in their career and following a couple of outings with them in 2012 it was easy to see why. I’m really looking forward to a great 2013 season with BGR and I know they will provide everything I need to be able to improve every time out in the car during the season. I can’t wait for the season to start so we can start racing! I’d like to thank my supporters CEZAC inc., P1 motorsports fitness, BIZZIB design and the Jim Russell Karting Academy since without them the 2013 season wouldn’t be possible.” comments Robichon.
BGR Team Grote will be looking to add Rookie of the Year number 8 to their stellar record. Off season testing will begin prior to the season to assure the BGR crew and drivers are all ready for what promises to be another great battle for the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship. The 14 race Championship kicks off May 3-5 at the world renowned Canadian Tire Motorsports Park before the annual May event at Shannonville Motorsports Park a couple of weeks later.
“We couldn’t be happier to welcome Zacharie to the team. After he tested with us last April and was the quickest of our 4 drivers we knew he would be a contender. His karting commitments kept him busy last season and he joined us for the series finale and was very quick once again. He ran times that were only a few tenths off the drivers who had the full season under their belts and never put a wheel wrong. We are very confident he will be a serious threat for the ROY and overall title. The entire team is delighted to welcome Zacharie and his family to our team. We have several updates for the cars this year and are very focused on performing at the best of our abilities.” states team principal Brian Graham.
BGR Team Grote has put more drivers in the winners circle than any other team in OFFC history and continues to strive to provide the perfect
environment for karters to make the transition to the open wheel ranks. The winners of the past 7 consecutive years of Rookie of the Year will be
looking to continue that tradition this season. To learn more about the team visit www.briangrahamracing.com and follow us on facebook https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/144083092268782/
