@ExclAutosport • @ToyoTiresF1600 • @CTMPOfficial • SASKATOON, SK – Exclusive Autosport is pleased to announce today that Ascaro Racing will use Spectrum chassis and be its official satellite entry in the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship and the Formula 1600 Super Series in Canada in 2015.
Ascaro Racing, formerly known as AVR Motorsports, will run two Spectrum entries this year with its driver line-up to be revealed prior to the start of the new season at the Castrol Victoria Day SpeedFest weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, 15th-17th May.
Exclusive Autosport’s domination of the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship in 2013 and 2014, with champions Jack Mitchell Jr. and Tristan DeGrand respectively, saw Michael Duncalfe’s factory Spectrum team head to the United States in 2015, running three full-time entries in the F1600 Formula F Championship Series.
Maintaining a presence in Canada, and continuing to showcase the Spectrum chassis, was a priority for Duncalfe, who’s parent company, Exclusive Management Inc., is the official North American importer and distributor for the Australian-made Spectrum.
The new official satellite operation of Ascaro Racing is spearheaded by Sam Ashtiani and Andre Du Preez. Ashtiani and Du Preez boast a wealth of automotive and mechanical engineering experience between them. Partnered together with the rich database of Exclusive Autosport’s championship winning seasons in the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship, Ascaro Racing has high hopes for the season ahead.
“I’m obviously very pleased to have Ascaro Racing as our official satellite entry in Canadian F1600 competition,” stated Exclusive Autosport Team Principal Michael Duncalfe. “We’re a Canadian team and we built our reputation, and that of the Spectrum chassis, here in Canada. It was crucial to me that we maintain a presence in the market even though we’re competing full-time in the United States now as the official factory Spectrum team.
“Sam and Andre are prized partners, not just because they share our vision and hunger for more success but also because they value the opportunity to run with Spectrum and have a fantastic knowledge themselves with their respective engineering backgrounds. I’m looking forward to working with them and seeing Ascaro Racing replicate Exclusive Autosport’s success in Canadian F1600, which is rapidly growing in stature year on year.”
The 2015 Toyo Tires F1600 Championship, based in Ontario, features six double-header events taking in Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Shannonville Motorsport Park and Calabogie Motorsport Park running from May to September.
This year’s Formula 1600 Super Series will combine four premiere events, two from the Toyo Tires F1600 Series – the opening round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in May and July’s Shannonville visit, and two from Quebec’s Formula Tour F1600 Series – the support race to the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal in June and the Grand Prix Trois-Rivieres at the end of July.
Formed in 2013, Exclusive Autosport quickly forged a reputation as one of North America’s premier junior formula outfits. Championship success came quickly under Michael Duncalfe’s leadership with notable achievements including back-to-back driver titles in 2013 and 2014 in the Canadian Toyo Tires F1600 A-Class Championship and in the Quebec Formula Tour 1600 Pro-Class Championship.
