MOUNT FOREST, ON – One of the most exciting young talents in the province, Andy Kamrath has been thrilling fans of Sauble Speedway for years. The 23-year old started his career as a youth, working his way up through the track’s Junior Late Model ranks. After a wildly successful scale car career, Kamrath jumped into the provincial Limited Late Model wars with both feet, stringing together head-turning performances in short order.
With 5 summers of Limited Late Model experience at ‘the Beach’ – and 12 feature victories along the way – ‘The Instant Classic’ enters this season with a new car, a new team, a new hometrack and a new outlook.
Kamrath will partner with long-time mentor Shaun McWhirter to tackle the entirety of Sunset Speedway’s 2013 schedule.
“Our team has never been one to shy away from a challenge. We’re well aware of what kind of competition is waiting for us at Sunset, and we’re more than ready”, beamed Kamrath at a recent Sunset practice session.
The young veteran will pilot McWhirter’s Streamline Race Products house car, and has moved to Simcoe County over the off-season in order to be closer to the speedway.
“The car I’ll be driving is the first Limited Late Model chassis to ever roll off the jig at Streamline, it’s their very first house car, and I’m just honoured that Shaun [McWhirter] has chosen me to drive for him. We had this chassis out twice last season, at Sunset’s Velocity 250 weekend and then again at Peterborough’s Autumn Colours Classic, and both times its performance wildly exceeded our initial expectations. Our equipment is responding the way we need it to, and our entire team has never functioned better than it is right now, we’re definitely going to have something for Sunset’s big guns this season.”
Kamrath’s unapologetic, ‘take no prisoners’ style of driving made him a fan favourite at Sauble, and the personable Owen Sound, ON transplant is confident it won’t take long for the Sunset faithful to take notice.
“I’m looking forward to putting my driving style on display for a new group of fans that might not be too familiar with me. Win or lose, I promise to make it entertaining.”
Kamrath’s 2013 efforts will be supported by AM Roofing, Allstar Wings of Newmarket, Duraflo Roof Vents and Imagewraps.ca.
