I agree that a half hour, even an hour, weekly hi-lite show would be nice with a few driver profile stories and if done right could get a decent following. Unfortunately we know that big $ TV sponsors and just sponsors in general don't flock to Canadian racing. I doubt any big name stations would be game but a good pitch to a locally based company like CityTv MAY, in very large letters, MAY attract some attention.

An organized product province-wide would help as well.

Is there any info out there as to what the admission is on July 12th at Cayuga? Now that the amusement rides are gone, whats next. The bad feeling I had about that weekend is increasing. If in fact if the super sprints are coming, whats on the bill with them. Maybe Bill Hill should stick to promoting farmer music and leave racing to someone that knows what the hell they are doing!

Hey now, there's no room for talk like that in this sport.

Realy Jason, do you see any good happening? Way more has been canceled than what will every show up this year. As someone wrote a few weeks ago, why show up and find locked gates. Maybe they should just give up on this year and work hard for next. Long gone are the days when reputation counted for a lot when trying to bring in fans. I will not pay $45.00 for music I could care less about and racing I do care about. The racing admission should be seperate. Have the "music" friday and saturday night. Save the racing for sunday. Have the ponies backed out?

Joe, you are right. Everyone seems to want to see the thunder cars. It would be a great showcase for the class.

Tim Millers column in the Spec appeared today (one day late-likely the paper's fault as it's one of the holdouts that doesn't publish on holidays) and does plug the ISMA show well. He mentions the Summer Nationals tonight at Ohsweken also but a major faux pas is that it talks like they're being held tomorrow, likely because of the late publishing of the column by the paper.
He talks of ISMA running three times a year at Cayuga in the past, but I honestly don't remember that many shows there in one season. In the early days of ISMA, they ran two or three times a year at Flammy and definitely ran three times a year at Mosport for a couple seasons (now there is a topic for another subject-why ISMA stopped running at Mosport)

I was told the I.S.M.A. guys found that Mosport was to hard on equipment, and the tow wasn't worth it. I sure hope for $35.00 dollars on July 12th Cayuga gets a good car count. I still think if you are trying to rebuild a fan base the admission is still a bit high.
The Supers in the late 70's were probably at Cayuga 2 or 3 times a year. They used to have some Friday night specials that drew cars from all over. Anyone remember the lime green, number 13 driver by John Mcleran. It was a all wheel drive rear engine rocket built by bill Hite. Went like hell never seemed to win though. This was before I.S.M.A. Bob Slack would fill the place. Man those were the day's.

I do remember the green 13, from Texas I believe, you're right it was fast.  I also recall getting to the track at about 8:15 that night, one on of only a few that the 13 was there, and having to sit in the very bottom row due to the huge crowd.  What a place Cayuga was back in the 70's, never to be repeated, I am sorry to say.

Bob Slack was the man, I still love to see him at Oshweken on a Friday night.  Boy I wish I had a time machine.

However, I will be there on the 12th, no matter what the price is, lets hope the King of Wings the night before at Oswego runs clean and green so that we don't loose any cars for the next day.

For part of a season in the early 80s i think, Flamboro tried
to run the supers on a Wednesday night.  It was a good show
but unfortunately there was nobody in the grandstands, so they
only did it for a month or two.
