The race community has three vital parts; the fans, the race team, and the race track. Not one of these parts is any greater then the other.

To me the most important aspect of your 3 tier model is the fans as without the fans supporting your facility, including the sponsors the doors will close. The race teams need to put on a great show for the fans to want to attend and the tracks responsibilty is to make it comfortable for the fans. They need to have nice seating and safe stands, clean washrooms and speedy concessions look at Sunset they are trending in the right direction and if the weather were to co-operate you will see the fans and race teams flock there and it will regain it's sucessful standing in the race community and will be the destination for race fans. They are looking after the small details a race guy knows what racers want. Race teams are needed, facilities are needed but fans and sponsor's rule.

Then perhaps we should listen a little closer to Jason’s side of the story seeing how he is a fan with a more in depth knowledge of the historical background of Cayuga Speedway.

I'd be willing to put money on the fact that you could enlighten us all on the most recent history of Cayuga Speedway over the last 15 years.

You need all elements as I stated but without fans and sponsor's who pays the race teams all i know is Sunset had 130 cars in the pits every Saturday night and the stands were nearly empty and Glenn had to sell the place.

As far as Cayuga goes I have heard nothing but what has been posted on here and other sites. I was just merely responding to a certain persons negative comments about Cayuga and every other track owner in the country.
You got ripped off then. From how you and your ilk go on, you're apparently supposed to get some sort of book or CD detailing everything there is to know about racing. If only us mere mortals could get our hands on such knowledge...
proudly part of scott's ILK. no book jk just knowledge from doing

According to Cayuga Speedway web site the super sprints are still on the bill for July 11th. How many will cross the border and what else is on the program remains to be seen. With Merritville  and Flamboro also running that night I hope they get a descent crowd. Lets hope the sprint car drivers have got their border crossing issues taken care of.

this isn't a good example because he didn't have to sell the place.....but you are right about needing all three elements to be truly successful

in reference to the bickering over who knows what cayuga should do i respect anyones opinion on racing as long as it makes sense doesn't matter what your past is....if u own, drive, sponsor, a car or work at a track own a track or you like racing.

backing up your ideas with your racing resume is horsesh*t the only credential you need is a computer and to put your name down beside what you write and an opinion....the opinion should speak for itself if you explain it well or it is valid, don't need to know if you were a tire changer, owner, or the owners mistress. as far as a racing resume goes, ultimately our racing resumes and $1.65 will get us an  xtra large double double at tims.  i'm on a team thats won 4 championships in 4 tries, i won one and a ROY in 2 years racing.  who cares i'm just a schmuck like everyone else i have bad ideas all the time and if i have one on the track and it makes someone mad i won't be upset if something is said about it on here.

if there was never conflict there would never be change.....people express opinions about the way things were done somewhere, sometimes it's not pretty but usually both sides come out by the time it all shakes out....i'm sure everyone can agree things aren't good enough that we don't need some change,

there will be more negativity toward some than others and if someone is truly a dick it will show in what they write, and if something is not true it will be exposed at some point but this is racing we have to have thick skin to a cetain extent.

if we all sat around and blew each other in a big mutual admiration society, this wouldn't be a discussion board, and if you want to come and post you are fair game to people's opinions, there is always an opportunity to respond so lets not make this place too vanilla.  So Jason is skeptical about the upcoming show.  let him be.

my opinion about cayuga is that i don't know what should be done lol, but i don't think weekly racing would work, too big a track and everyone is running somewhere already and there isn't enough money going around....

maybe a late year invitational for thunders and lates and super lates would draw people if there was good money being paid....i'd go for that.  or a race before the year begins it would be like the Daytona 500 for local racers.....maybe not lol but i think if you market it right to create hype it with a good purse it may work....

If you throw out the assumption that every track is going to survive, finding cars and fans becomes much easier to do. Just food for thought...

I believe someone is missing a golden opportunity here. Why does some bright owner not hire Jason to manage and promote their facility? I can see them now lining up to hire him!!

I would think they'd be after you and your resume first.
