Just got off the phone with a gentleman named Bill Hill who told me he has purchased Cayuga Motor Speedway and will return it to its roots by renaming it Cayuga International Speedway. Mr. Hill plans to hold several events this season, including the Race of Champions in late August (featuring NASCAR drivers).
... more to come.

Does anyone know anything about Bill Hill? What's his background?
I was really hoping that the Glenn Styres rumour was going to be true.

From the Cayuga website: "2009 Race Schedule and Track Announcements Coming Soon Stay tuned! We are about to make announcements about the upcoming race season at Cayuga Motor Speedway."
Hmmm! We have heard that before. Hope it is true.

I'm worried that one of the biggest challeges he faces is that a number of the American Sanctioning bodies with races in Canada, have been lax in getting their members up to date with passports and border crossing papers. THE AVSS farce at Delaware is sort of an example of this (9 US teams + 2 Cdn.) made for 11 cars total (althought they only brought 16 last year). I'm not sure how fans liked paying $24.00 for this group plus two support divisions with less than full fields(JMO-they seem to get away with higher spectator prices at Delaware than any other track in the province)

1 - We'll see how many cars AVSS gets at Toledo this weekend. Given the location of the majority of the teams for AVSS, I'd imagine there's something else at play for why they're not coming out than just passports. 2 - ISMA should be less of a concern, as they appear to be proactive about noting the passport issue.

agreed Jason, I just like how ACT, ESS, and DIRT seem to have made their members aware of the border issues. How it affects the sanctioning bodies or racers who only make one trip a year to Canada is a greater concern.

Bill Hill is a former racer, raced at Cayuga when it a dirt track. and is an avid race fan, along with being a good person.
Watch for news release this week possibly four races this year.

That's well and good, but hopefully he's bringing something to the table in the present-day.
