Wide Open Motorsport Solutions take over management of Sunset Speedway

Innisfil, ON (Tuesday May 19, 2009):    We are pleased to announce today that Sunset Speedway is under new ownership and management as of Friday May 15th.  Wide Open Motorsport Solutions has been contracted to manage the day to day operations of the facility and to consult with the new Ownership Group on speedway improvements over the next three years.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be involved in this project,” stated Mark Dilley, President of Wide Open Motorsport Solutions.  Linda Jones (V.P. of Wide Open) and I talked about this for several weeks and we just couldn’t turn down the opportunity to help build Sunset Speedway into a premier racing facility in Central Ontario.”

Sunset Speedway is home to four racing divisions including Late Models, Thunder Cars, Mini Stocks and Outlaw Mini’s with events scheduled every Saturday night.  Special events will take place with the rebirth of long weekend Sunday afternoon Invitationals.   Additionally the OSCAAR Super Late Models come to Sunset for two events in 2009, the first one being the Don Biederman Special Night July 4th.  Check the schedule for visits from the Pro Challenge Cup and Vintage Modifieds.

“We took over at 5 p.m on Friday evening and opened the pits for our first event at 1 p.m .on Saturday,” said Dilley.  “With a lot of help from our staff, some of whom are new, we managed to pull off a full night of racing.  The rain moved out of the area at 5 p.m. and we had a smooth night with all events in the books by just after 9 p.m.”

Sunset Speedway is located on Highway 11 (Yonge St) between Highway 89 and Innisfil Beach Rd. in Innisfil, Ontario just a few miles south of Barrie.
