Guys, please give me a Canadian company that would even think about sponsoring a Canadian driver? Home Depot, Quaker, Penzoil, Dupont, Lowes, Pepsi, Coke, Kellogg's,??? most companies doing business in Canada are US based & are already involved. Name me a large Canadian company that is really looking to get exposure in the US market. Canadian Tire?Huh Rona?Huh Home Hardware??? I can't think of too many that have ambitions to conquer the US market. Look at Crown Royal that was a Canadian whiskey & how it's into Nascar big time, but it was probably bought out by a US comapny.
Equipment Express was on JR's truck the last time he ran & if I'm no mistaken, that's his dad's company, & I think this may be why Mamoet was involved, as Equipment Express probably hauled their cranes around.
It's sad that here you have a talented guy like JR that can't get $$$, and they put (in my opinion) untalented people in race trucks that come with the $$$$. It's called business to TRG. I wonder what the difference in payout is between finishing 35th or finishing in the top 10 (maybe) is??? Not sure how it works with sponsoring a truck for a race. Cover the costs of the weekend with a sponsorship, & werever you finsh is profit??? Hard to figure out. Such high expectations & praise for JR to contend for ROTY after Daytona, but that was conditional on sponsorship I guess. What a shame. I kind of lost interest in the truck series after this. JR made me want to watch each race. Oh well, life goes on.

Why not Canadian Tire Corp? Irving Oil? Bombardier (Ski-Doo/ Sea-Doo), Air Canada? West Jet? those are other companies that could benefit from NASCAR exposure

I was thinking the same thing Len, the really sad thing is that there isn't a vast lot of big Canadian companies left, although Steve mentioned a few.

I don't think that trying to enter the US market has to be the only reason a  Canadian owned company would sponsor a race down south, one just has to look at how many Canadians watch these races.

At any rate, I wish JR the best, he's a good driver and should be down there, as well as a bunch of other Canadian guys!

Gotta wish him the best for sure. Food for thought?? You'd think a guy like Jacques V. that had already made a name for himself in motorsports, could get a sponsor like Bombardier to come up with some $$. Seadoos, Skidoos, Planes & trains that cover all of the United States for sure, and the world, but I guess when you build a good product that people want, you don't have to sponsor a good ol Canadian boy or two in Nascar???

Canadian Tire didnt have to sponsor Gibbons or Steckley ('09) or NASCAR for that fact, they already had their market covered pretty good......point being is that its called support......would Canadians love to see West Jet on the side of J.R's truck? Canadian company backing canadian kid? great marketing oppourtunity. Jacques is past his prime and as far as Im concerned....F1 turned him into a pre-madonna so to speak. He couldnt cut it in trucks and packed it in. Im almost positive that the press release said that he walked away from the deal? Fact is that J.R builds his own stuff up here, has DT jr to sponge off of, Jacques has probably forgotten what a wrench is? J.R has that unique ability to communicate to the crew and crew chief where Jacques didnt.....I watched a show that followed him at a race weekend and he sucks at giving information.
