**THIS IS AN INSIDETRACKNEWS.COM EXCLUSIVE AND IS NOT MEANT TO BE REPOSTED ANYWHERE WITHOUT THE WRITER'S CONSENT**

(August 26th - September 21st)

11) Justin McLellan (Varney Speedway Modified, Varney Speedway Limited Late Model)

The youngest of the racing McLellan family used a phenomenal Labour Day weekend to spring into the top-15 of our final Power Rankings of the regular season. The Mount Forest, ON native took the win in all 3 of the races he started over the course of the long weekend, showing his versatility in the process, with 2 wins in a Limited Late Model as well as an impressive victory in his Open Wheel Modified.

12) Kevin Foisy (Capital City Speedway Legends)

Ontario's reigning king of scale cars closed out 2009 with a dazzling streak of 4 straight wins to capture his second Capital City championship in a row. Foisy displayed the same focus and determination he's become known for, capping off the season with an incredible 13 wins overall.

13) Jason Elliott (Barrie Speedway Thunder Car)

One of the hardest working drivers in the Thunder Car division, Angus, ON native Jason Elliott saw his seasons of hard work pay off during a 6-day stretch that was nothing short of spectacular. Elliott picked up his first career victory on September 6th at Sunset Speedway's 'Labour Day 50' then followed up the very next weekend with his first win on Barrie Speedway soil, when he held off Power Rankings mainstay Dave Doucette. Elliott would later add another runner-up result at Barrie 7 days later, cementing his status as one of the division's most promising up-and-comers, as well as putting to bed the numerous rumours regarding nice guys and their tendency to finish last.

14) Scott McTeer (Sauble Speedway Thunder Car)

Sauble's 2009 Thunder Car champion finished off the regular season in impressive fashion, as he solidified his second championship in 3 seasons with a pair of victories on his home turf. The Tiverton, ON driver then invaded Sunset Speedway for a rare Sunday show on September 13th, starting deep in the field before rallying to his first ever Sunset victory.

15) Cole Powell (Kawartha Speedway Late Model)

There aren't too many racers that will disagree that a wheelman never forgets his first trip to victory lane. Eespecially if that trip is earned by beating one of the country's finest drivers and 27 of his talented colleagues. The 16-year old sophomore turned heads and earned respect in a single night, holding off talented veteran Pete Vanderwyst through the final laps of Kawartha Speedway's final 100-lap invitational of the 2009 season. If that gutsy performance is indicative of things to come, make sure you have Powell on your depth charts heading into 2010.

16) Jeff Hanley (OSCAAR)

2008's top ranked Asphalt Short Tracker fell just short of this quarter's top-10 after having an impressive top-5 run at Peterborough on September 5th taken from him in the form of a post-race penalty. However, the month wasn't all disappointment; The Georgetown, ON dominator still awed a near capacity crowd at Sunset on September 19th, leading every single lap to capture his 4th win of the season.

17) Derrick Tiemersma (OSCAAR)

Jack-of-all-trades racer Derrick Tiemersma managed the comeback of the OSCAAR season with a victory at Peterborough Speedway on September 5th. The Newmarket, ON veteran was faced with a pair of unfortunate incidents in his qualifying heat race, but was able to work through the setbacks with the same heart and grit that took him to the 2007 OSCAAR championship. Tiemersma would add a top-5 at Sunset on September 19th to lock up yet another Power Rankings appearance.

18) Dan Kimmerly (Mosport Speedway Limited Late Model)

Late Model staple Dan Kimmerly capped off a phenomenal 2009 season with a pair of victories on September 5th, sealing his bid for his first ever Mosport Speedway championship. The Courtice, ON veteran finished with a total win count of 3, along with a plethora of top-5s.

19) Jason Shaw / Paul Howse [TIE] (Flamboro Speedway Late Model)

For the 2nd time in Power Rankings history, this storied rivalry finds itself locked in a dead heat amongst our top-25. Both drivers had equally impressive months; With Shaw bringing home a win in one of the final Flamboro events of the season, in addition to a runner-up overall in the 2009 Grisdale Triple Crown Tournament. Though for the second season in a row, Howse would 'one up' Guelph, ON's favourite son, once again using his meticulous and consistent approach to secure his second Grisdale title in a row.

20) Jason McLellan (Varney Speedway Limited Late Model)

McLellan continued to flex his muscle through the final quarter of 2009, wrapping up the Varney Speedway Limited Late Model championship and laying claim to yet another Power Rankings appearance in the process. The former Pro Cup star put a cap on a phenomenal 2009 campaign with a final 2 visits to victory lane and a glaring reminder that he is still one of the most talented Short Track'ers in the province, regardless of what he chooses to strap into.

21) Gregg Ogilvie (Capital City Speedway Thunder Car)

Capital City favourite Gregg Ogilvie closed out his 2009 season showing the same unbridled dominance that turned the heads of insiders and competitors alike all summer long. The Ottawa, ON driver picked up an astonishing 5 straight wins through the back half of 2009, for a season total of 10 to secure his second straight CCS Thunder Car championship. With figures like those, fans across the province are hoping they won't have to make the trek to Ottawa to catch a glimpse of one of the province's fastest rising stars.

22) Shawn Chenoweth (Flamboro Speedway Thunder Car)

When OSCAAR veteran Shawn Chenoweth announced his plans of campaigning full time in a Thunder Car in 2009, Flamboro purists knew they were in for a treat. The hardnosed Ayr, ON veteran did not disappoint, taking part in a slew of highlight reel performances throughout the summer. Chenoweth took his show on the road through the fourth quarter, in preperation for the upcoming playoff season. This touring brought Chenoweth to Varney Speedway victory lane over the Labour Day weekend, which he then added to with a victory at his home track of Flamboro to cap off a successful return to the track and division that gave him his start.

23) Darryl St. Onge (Barrie Speedway Thunder Car)

St. Onge managed to continue his tear through the Barrie Thunder Car division, defending his points lead through another quarter with a pair of top-5s in addition to a trip to victory lane. Despite a valiant effort from Power Rankings alum Dave Doucette, the Barrie, ON product secured his first ever championship on Barrie's final night of racing, amid rumours of his permanent retiring from the sport.

24) Gord 'The Smoke' Shepherd (Barrie Speedway Limited Late Model)

While Gord Shepherd may not have had the flashiest fourth quarter, the Oro Station, ON veteran used the same consistency that aided him in ascending to the top of the Barrie Speedway standings to close out his season in style. Although touring has been a priority for 'The Smoke' in 2009, he stayed close to home during the month of September, managing 3 top-3s in 4 appearances at Barrie Speedway to capture his first ever track championship.

25) Ryan Semple (Sunset Speedway Thunder Car)

One of Sunset Speedway's top prospects, 2007's Rookie of the Year put the Thunder Car division on notice during a late summer hot streak that saw the Loretto, ON youngster make a pair of visits to victory lane. The run was especially impressive when considering both wins came back-to-back, immediately after Semple debuted a new ride. Heading into 2010, it appears as though Semple has placed his inconsistencies in his rearview and will be one to watch for a breakout year.

Still, phenomenal numbers no matter what way you look at them.

Hopefully a touring schedule is in the plans for 2010.

There werent many drivers province wide that won back to back in Q4 and there were no other Sunset Thunder drivers that won back to back. Doing so in a new car (new to Ryan, that is) makes it even more impressive.

Personally, I feel Ryan Semple more than deserves his spot.

Spencer: must be hard to come up with the lists sometime when, these days, there is so little inter-track travelling between drivers and teams. For example, I guess we'd all like to see how Paul Howse would do away from Flamboro. Kudos for your efforts. M

Thanks very much, Mike.

It is tough to try and compare statistics and imagine how these guys would stack up if all the top drivers/teams in the province raced against each other consistently.

I would absolutely love to see how Paul Howse would do against a bevy of drivers from across the province. From Dan McHattie and Brandon Watson to Steve Robblee and Ron Sheridan, theres just so much more for him outside of Flamboro's walls....though I do understand how enormous a role funding plays....far more cost efficient to just concentrate on one speedway, i suppose.

Ya? kinda thought the same thing, but he did put up some good #'s with Norms car at the end, and starting at the front helped a tonne too. Still, great power rankings, love reading them!.

Not taking a shot at your rankings Spencer, alot of hard work and knowledge behind them and always a great read. I just think Semple is not deserving, this is the same driver that gave up midway thru many races while running midpack this season. I agree with Junior, when you start up front in back to back weeks!!!
